Unpack original client

How are the original clients unpacked? I tried a few unpacking programs but they don't work.

they are packed with something called "Themida"

Unpacking is not enough, if you can't get its packet and encryption keys.

So it is impossible to use 2015 clients? What about 2014 clients? Do those use Themida as well?

All clients till now use themida, you have to unpack it, get packets and it's keys, and then use.The ones released are all unpacked ones.

Is there a guide to learn how to do this? Is this something a novice with lots of time could do? Like diffing and analysis? Or is does it involve disassembly and memory dumps and advanced techniques?

many tried, many failed, so I would say: no, there is no guide and no, a novice can't do it :/
