For anyone that may encounter this problem in the future, Thanks to Ossi0110 this problem was fixed. It was a combination of two things- subnet required two entries, one with subnet/wan/wan another with subnet/lan/lan - the client was also rediffed to enable DNS support. After these steps, the connection was established. Thanks again Ossi0110.
