[Help] Client?

Question

Okay..... so I've downloaded over 10 clients now... I've read like every client related thread on this forum and all I can get from them is more confusion...

Is there perhaps 1 download that has everything needed in it to simply open, extract, play? Or at least up to the point I can simply open it in Nemo, apply recommended diffs, done?

See the thread that gave me the most results was Judas' about downloading the "latest" kRO client.. the only problem is he made that thread (Like most on this forum) in 2013.... the link no longer gives that download and gives a 2014 client... I cannot for the life of me make that client accept Nemo... nor do I see where to make it connect to my server?

Why isn't getting a client simply instructed in the wiki like the server files? or at least an updated, pinned thread that doesn't assume you've been using private server RO for years?

(Also as this is my first thread... Hello Hercules RO community ^_^ )

EDIT:

While browsing the other sections of the forum I saw a member's signature that had a link here: http://hercules.endlessro.net/

It's a list of client downloads? I'm going to attempt the last Full Client download he posted.

EDIT 2:

This one has YourRO.exe? Ehhh tried to Nemo it... and only 5 of the recommended patches apply... Is that bad? >_>

This full download has a lot more files than my last few attempts, is the clientinfo.xml where I input the server's IP and port for the client to connect to my server?

The clientinfo.xml in ossi's client is inside palette.grf, you can extract and merge it back after editing it with grfbuilder (this tool already included in ossi full client download, under Tool folder).

YourRO.exe in this client is already patched.

You have to check these lines in [hercules directory]srccommonmmo.h

#ifndef PACKETVER
#define PACKETVER 20140205
#endif // PACKETVER

make sure the packetver is same with your client date.

And if you make any change, don't forget to recompile it.

NB : If you want to patch your own client you can find some unpatched Ragexe.exe in:

http://k3dt.eu/Ragexe/unpacked/

2014-02-05bRagexe.exe is the last stable one.

Note : your client data should be updated first before you use newer client,

this can be done by running rsu-kro-rag-lite.exe (this file made by Ai4rei, and already included in ossi's client)

Indeed I did.

EDIT:

24 Fix Camera Angles (Recommended)
41 Disable Nagle Algorithm (Recommended)
53 Use Ascii on All Langtypes (Recommended)
61 Disable Packet Encryption (Recommended)
90 Enable DNS Support (Recommended)

Those are the patches that NEMO was able to do to the client.

This was very helpful! So I should run the rsu-kro-rag-lite.exe programs and then update to a newer client? Also I'd like to note my server is Renewal so should I run the rsu-kro-renewal.exe as well?

And if I do update my stuff and put a new client, should I delete YourRO.exe?

For today kro :

1. Ragexe.exe is renewal

2. RagexeRE.exe is Sakray

They remove classic !

so rsu-kro-rag-lite.exe will update renewal and

rsu-kro-renewal-lite.exe will update sakray

About YourRO.exe :

1. you can run older YourRO.exe with newer data (up to date) but

2. you can not run newer YourRO.exe with older data.

Example :

last ossi's client is 2013-12-23 :

1. you run rsu-kro-rag-lite.exe and got newer data, and you do not change YourRO.exe.

Result : your client will still work.

2. you change YourRO.exe with 2014 version, and do not run rsu-kro-rag-lite.exe.

Result : your client may have trouble.

You should have a patched client (YourRO.exe) to use hercules.

About clientinfo.xml, if not inside palette.grf, it should be in YourRO.grf;

I forgot the exact location :P

Older client may work with newer data, but can not use new content in it,

you need newer client to use newer content.

Example :

if you use old client (client that released before rebellion class), and update the data to the recent date.

your client will still work, but can not have rebellion class.

Rebellion data is at there, but will never used by old client, because old client do not know Rebellion.

In order to have rebellion you need newer client (client that released after rebellion class).

Okay thank you, that was a perfect explanation. Thank you! Imma go ahead and try to patch up the 2014 client you suggested.

EDIT:

It worked, patched up everything I wanted too. Thanks again.

Now all I need to do is wait for my back-end team to finish setting up the server so I can test lol
