(Question) Bypassing MAX NPC ID number

Hi,

 

I've been trying to add custom NPC without replacing official ones, but I haven't been very succesful at that.

First of all, is this even possible? I don't see many people doing it...

 

I've read somewhere that I need to modify npc.h and hex the client, can someone guide me trough this? and also, which client is better for this?
