Ridley 295 Posted July 6, 2016 I often read about people making a pre-renewal server. This is not meant to be a real discussion, If you hate renewal I wont convince you but on the other hand you wont make me enjoy pre-re servers x) Anyways. I wondered why would you make one. Why adjusting renewal content to pre? Is it about new formulas/skills? I have the impression most pre-re servers needs highly customization to be different and special, while on Re you need to have the latest content and be uptodate. So yea, I can't see a point in making/playing a pre-re server just to play some customzied late game content. also I don't want to play classes and quests I mastered already 7 years ago. What is your reason why you prefer pre/re?
bWolfie 138 Posted July 7, 2016 I don't like renewal because of the way they changed a lot of things people enjoyed. Instant cast, skill delays, cast times, aspd, defence, formula changes. And a lot of the things they added were brain-dead decisions, most of which didn't supplement what already existed - rather, eliminated its purpose. A lot of us are still stuck in our ways. Renewal feels like the highly customised servers many loath. There are some ridiculously overpowered things which don't add to the experience. So yeah. My overall feeling towards it is Renewal didn't supplement an already great game, rather, it changed the way it worked and removed a lot of elements people enjoyed. 1 Mortonal reacted to this
fxfreitas 102 Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) The reason why I like renewal is because he ever change, today you're end game player with "perfect" gears, but maybe tomorrow new content comes and you need to run again for equips, every month a new map, a new instance, new gears and new balances. In renewal every class is useful, as support, killer, debuffer or both, you can make a archbishop and go in front line of PvP w/ your deadly adoramus or take the ninja and stand back removing reflect and soul link, reducing stats from the enemies. You have more options of builds with many purposes, A rune knight not will be ever a front dps and tank, a royal guard not will ever be a supportive tank... Golden thief-gub doesn't disable mages... Emperium recieve 1 of damage so no sinx doing backdoors alone in the last 10 seconds of war ^^ New content does not disable old content, rangers still uses white wing set w/ elven bow, but looking forward take the hero sniping suit and faceworm skin w/ temporal boots w/ big crossbow... evilpuncker 503 Posted July 7, 2016 I used to not like it, but now I have my mind open and every update is welcome, we need to adapt to changes, that is how our brain evolves ;P (I apply this to almost every software/game now, unless it is bugged)
Chuu 18 Posted July 8, 2016 Some REnewal content (for instance shadow gear, sealed cards etc.) is unnecessary in my opinion. Also, the damage formula, def and mdef calculation as well as the aspd configuration is not good. There are some skills of the 3rd classes, that I like (ex. Infared Scan or Trample), but in the other hand, there skills that I absolutely do not like because of their complexitivity and lack of balance. To put it in a nutshell, Pre RE is more simple and classic. Everybody can play simply with the 2nd classes, and it's always fun. RE is complex and it has some features, that are not needed, or damaged the balance of the game. Of course, Dungeons, Cities and Quests of RE are pretty cool to see, they wrote a new story and created beautiful maps -> Some Pre RE users only want these (good) parts of the RE Upgrade of Ragnarok Online. It can deliver you the feeling of being up to date with the story, and also it stays with the old (better) game mechanics. I prefer Pre RE, the main reason are the 3rd classes.
