Tranquility 12 Posted October 26, 2015 Depending on your needs, starting out with OpenVZ can be nice though. If you find a reliable hosting company that doesn't oversell their services, else KVM could be nicer if you also plan to toy with making modifications/changing the kernel. Once you're advancing forward, follow Ossi's advise and get an unmanaged server.
Dastgir 1246 Posted October 26, 2015 If I don't have budget for DS, I would go for openvz virtualization.... But be sure to be with good company, as there's risk, that hosting company might oversell their service.

Vindicaree 0 Posted August 27, 2016 may I ask how much ram would be needed for a minimum vps? something like installing an emulator + beta testing the server less than 10 players will play
Khazou 12 Posted September 1, 2016 As said in the wiki Hercules requires the following resources from the machine in order to function without problems or the common "Lag": 1.5 GHz or faster CPU, either Intel or AMD is acceptable. Somemembers have reported that they have gotten Hercules to run on otherprocessors. 128 MB of RAM, MINIMUM. The map server in an idle state consumes about 76MB of RAM, depending on how many maps and NPCs are loaded (41mb when no NPCs are in use). A video card powerful enough to run the Operating System ofyour choice (or no video card at all). Hercules is a console basedsoftware, which means that all that is required to run it is a consoleor command access. Fast internet or network connection. This is very hard topredict. A lot of questions arise that ask 'how much bandwidth doesHercules need?'. There is no answer to that. It is all depending on howmany characters are connected, from where, and what they do whileconnected to the server. 250MB of Hard Drive space or better, up-to gigabytes depending on how big the database may get. I think it is for the personal machine not for vps

PonyVPS 3 Posted September 4, 2016 Hello. this is quite interesting question.. but its always depends, what you need and what you can have (talking about price) VPS openvz is lowcost good for starting how to learn and make it a public small server while dedicated is good and better, you need to spend more $$ on this.. and for starters this is not what u need.
