Assuming version 4.2.1, 64-bit, is that right? Can you try, if:
- it crashes with the other platform build? (i.e. if you use 64-bit, try 32-bit and vice versa)
- it crashes with recent older versions as well.
Thank you.

Updated to 4.1.5, fixes reusage of waste in GRF archives was not enabled (ever since its introduction in 4.0.0). Depending on amount of wasted space, some archives may shrink in response to being updated. It also fixes the /testpak command reporting Sakray/Test archives as corrupted.

Elurair already supports updating encrypted GRFs/GPFs (such as SecureGRF).
Normally there is no added benefit to using Thor files other than compatibility with previous patcher, since Thor files are not encrypted as far as I know.
2022-01-22:
- ZIP support complete
- RAR is held until I'm bored enough to enter that source code abyss and figure out, how to make it open something other than files
-
Yes, this belongs to the same group of software as Thor Patcher.
If there will be interest for that, there can be support for THOR files, too. Currently it can only work with GPF and RGZ.

Both formats will need some work.
Originally I thought, RAR might be easier, but turns out, unrar expects a physical file, rather than an arbitrary data stream (patches are only offloaded to disk, if the OS deems that necessary). There are also few the problems with RAR6, but should be fixable in a way or another.
ZIP should be relatively easy.
There won't be support for password-protection and encryption.

Client too old or patch.inf missing.

Updated to 2.16.0.518, adds proper support for kRO Zero, among others.
-
Updated to 4.1.3, this release fixes an assertion when applying optimized patches.
Updated to 4.1.4, this release adds support for the new, short-lived (2021-11-03 ~ 2021-11-17) kRO Sakray server. This is a different server from the one removed in 4.1.2 and requires a new full client. There is no mirror support for this one and it is released only as part of the bundle package.

A note of advice: You should specify proper copyrights on "Ragnarok" and related material (screenshots of game data) on github, otherwise you risk your project being taken down.

Updated to 4.0.1, this release fixes, among others, an issue that prevented updating jRO RAG, when there are more than one year worth of patches to apply.
Updated to 4.1.1, a maintenance release.

The client most likely is not a 2019-ish client, because it requests patches from 2018. I was recently running low on space on the mirror, so I had to remove year 2018 from the mirror.

Interesting. So the very same version did not work by itself, but did as part of the full client package.
Please also check, if there isn't a hung (running but no window) instance in Task Manager. During start it checks whether it needs elevate before starting, so depending on the contents of the folder this check may take longer or get stuck for some reason. That would also explain, why no crash has been logged in event log.
