    FYI - Aegis is NOT an emulator. It is the OFFICIAL software. AFAIK there hasn't been a public leak of Aegis fully available to the public in a few years. You also need Windows and a Microsoft SQL server to run it. While rAthena/Herc run on 256MB of RAM or less being idle, Aegis usually consumes 2-3x that being idle.

    Installation

    1st, it is a merge from item_noequip.txt and skill_nocast_db.txt functionality. 2nd, it is a major improvement on what these features did in both performance and usability. map_zone_db.txt format sample

    In disabled_skills the var following the name (: "PLAYER | MONSTER | HOMUN | MERCENARY | ELEMENTAL | PET | CLONE | MOB_BOSS") is what allows a zone to know what unit types should have this skill disabled. In the sample above, for example, in My Zone, player, monster and elemental unit types are unable to cast heal, while only monsters are unable to cast teleport. this variable may also be used to ignore skills from inheritance, for example if My Other Zone disabled a number of skills, including MG_FIREBOLT, in My Zone all of them will be disabled as well, except for MG_FIREBOLT since it is set as NONE. In disabled_items the var following the name (: true or : false) is what allows a zone to override what it inherited, for example if My Other Zone disables a number of items, including Assumptio_5_Scroll, in My Zone all of them will be disabled as well, except Assumptio_5_Scroll since it is as false. A zone may enforce an unlimited number of mapflags on all its maps, by using this sample all maps under My Zone will have Fire Bolt damage increased by 2.5x and Sanctuary will have its duration halved. A unlimited number of maps may be linked to a specific zone through a mapflag '<map name><tab>mapflag<tab>zone<tab><zone name>' Changes The mf_restrict (restrict) was dropped. item_noequip.txt and skill_nocast_db.txt were dropped, replaced by map_zone_db.txt. setmapflag script command was modified to support the new zones. @mapinfo was modified to support the new zones, also modified the formatting and made it include the amount of vendings. Improvements As opposed to item_noequip.txt and skill_nocast_db.txt, map_zone_db.txt supports an unlimited number of zones. map_zone_db.txt implementation surpasses the ones from item_noequip.txt and skill_nocast_db.txt, making item equipping (pc_useitem/status_calc_pc) and skill using (previously skillnotok, now status_check_skilluse) processing much faster and efficient. @mapinfo performance was improved (was doing chat room dbmap lookups without even checking if player was on the map in question) Special Thanks to Muad_Dib <3. to lighta for discussing the feature with me and helping design the unit-based restrictions on skills to Bahmut and Emistry for ideas on how to format the file. to kyeme for feature ideas.     Hello,
     
    While we do not mind that rAthena developers, staff members and regular members register an account, post or send PM's on our forums, we do not take kindly to 'rAthena is better because x y and z' posts, or anything promoting rAthena as a superior emulator because of such and such. There is no such post on rAthena made by a Hercules staff member about Hercules and we intend to keep it that way, we would appreciate the same respect.
     
    Those who do not follow this simple clause listed above will have their post(s) deleted and/or hidden from view. Repeat offenders will be suspended from our forum with no further warnings or post manipulation.
     
    We do not appreciate, nor welcome drama here. While criticism is welcome in the form of 'why doesn't Hercules have such and such a feature', drama and belittling a project (hercules or not) will not be tolerated. This is a collaboration, not a drama infested 12 year old's contest.

    You know, I have a strange feeling that if we hadn't pointed out the concept of 'backups' I doubt they would have ever fallen back to any backups they had. Curious as well that the "news about rAthena" document claims restoring backups from May 22. How can you restore backups from a time in which your RAID was damaged and the server was not even responsive to ping? We have ourselves some genetically engineered hackers over here.

    Hi everyone,   To vent out my stress, I just made up some random and simple patcher designs that I want to release for free. I know my Photoshop skills aren't the best, but sometimes simplicity is good enough? I'm used to Neoncube patchers, so I am not sure about all the features of Thor and what additional features/designs I can add. Hence, these designs can be used for both types of patchers I suppose. Yes, I basically spammed the round rectangle shape art tool haha. All designs come with 2 PSDs (one for the original looks and one with hover over looks; screenshots are provided as well in the individual folders). Some screenshots are shown in the spoiler below.   They are not coded (though when I have more time, I can try to learn and code them, kind of already got the gist but not the motivation).   It'll be awesome if someone gets to use these designs and have them coded (let me know if you have them coded as well)! Use these as you please in any way. I do not claim any of the images, and if there are any concerns with the use of any of the background images, let me know and I'll remove them.   If there are any requests, just shoot a PM, and I can try when I have time. Remember, I can only make simple designs... like these.     I have released the following design files before, but I want to put them here for downloading as well! Thank you =D.   In the WinRAR file, it contains several images, files, and PSDs. I bought a design from ShiJu a while back with the intent of giving it to the community after some modifications (EmberRO design). EmberRO isn't a server--just a placeholder name. Feel free to use any images and edit them if PSDs are provided. I do not mind if my credits are not there, but it would be nice of you if you do mention me somewhere. I ask that for the website, keep ShiJu's credit image at least.   The patcher is my first attempt at designing a patcher, so I do not know if I made it in the proper format for the PSD file, but you guys can correct it or use the images separately if wanted.   In the additional images folder, most images are designed by me and a few are designed by others which I have purchased with my own money. There are images like a few forum ranks, loading screens, logos, emblems, etc. Some images I did not provide PSDs to out of whim or that I do not have them. Let me know if you want some edits or additional stuff, but I may not make them depending on my schedule. I hope to add more files later when I have more spare time!   The website was supposed to be coded, but the coder got far too busy recently, so I can only offer PSDs (was waiting for the coding so that I can release it to the public later, but I guess I'm releasing the PSDs now due to the mentioned circumstances). As for the patcher, I can code it, but it would take some time to do so and that I only know how to code it with Jikari. I made a simple splash page, and the coding isn't perfected. It's simple, but it gets the job done XD. Use it however you like (the coding, images, etc). I am not that good with Photoshop, but this is just a token of appreciation from me to the community, so don't have high expectations or criticize me too much haha!   If you do not have some of the fonts, I suggest you go to http://dafont.com/ to download them. In fact, you can pretty much make so many images with just the pretty fonts there =D! (And use blending options through Photoshop.) I have posted some preview images in this post (within the spoiler). Have fun!     Why..? This is Hercules. A separate emulator. If they want to put it into the rAthena emulator, they'll do it there, just like they did with Ind & friend's chat channel system. Frankly, I'd rather NOT see it implemented on rAthena, because it only continues the tension between the two projects that people have for whatever reason. I'd much prefer seeing each project truly fork and continue to develop separately, than seeing CUSTOM additions continuously merged into rAthena. But, you know, that's just my two cents, who am I?
