Thanks for your interest in this guide. The main purpose of all these lines is, to have an -advance level- resource for those guys that wish to go further with their map creations.

This guide will cover a useful amount of guides that has never been out there before. This is a compilation of things I have learned so far until this day;  there is more mapping than just learning browedit!

Please... Don't ask for support if you have not fullfilled the previous points I'm listing here.

Another point: This guide will not contain links to download copyright software. Here, I will only list the software you will need to follow the video tutorials I will add... it is up to you too obtain this software by purchasing it, or Google it.

P.S.: Forget my english in some videos I talk spanish natively.

Edit: config.borf.json with your current RO directories. Input with your keyboard your config name once you open browedit.exe and asks for it. Your graphic card must support OpenGL 2.0+~ to run this software.

    Whats new:
[*]Major Update: Mirror or Simmetry at object edit mode: allows to mirror complete maps at the RSW file. Useful for simmetry maps. Experimental for now. (press M to simmetry)
[*]Major Update: Bug reporting: Extension, once you have a crash, a crashlog can be send to borf by mail.
[*]Major Update: Height edit mode: Initial work at this mode. Left click to select an amount of tiles, right click and drag to add height or decrease it. Look for the radial menu (spacebar) to find the "height edit tools option" and disable the smoothness at heights.
[*]General bugs fixed and clean ups.

    Introduction:

We all know how great and useful is browedit these days, that it has become the unique choice at Ragnarok Mapping. We will always be thankful to @Borf, who has created this tool years ago, and now, since the past year, he has been working with a new version of it.

This project replaces the old one [link] that was the previous and Old Java version of Browedit 2.0 *which is no longer used*. This thread will have regular updates about the project. Any kind of feedbacks and suggestions are always welcome.

    Video:

(Video pretty says all of how browedit has improved greatly)

    Screenshots:

    Features already working:
[*]Faster and more efficient, even at complex camera distances.
    [*]Real-Time Rendering of Changes Made
[*]Multi Core support (before, past browedits were only for 1 core)
    [*]RSM Animation
    [*]Texture Edit mode *partially*
[*]Texture window list (which is optimized and loads fast)
[*]Object Edit Mode *partially* (which now, replaces object group edit mode of past brows)
[*]Rotate, Position, Resizing and multi selection are supported.
    [*]Sounds
    [*]Effects

    Some TODO:
    [*]Water rendering
[*]Add Undo Structure (probably Redo aswell)
    [*]Config Window
[*]Start Working on More Edit Modes.
    [*]Saving.
[*]Add Skybox (a fancy feature that will add sky to maps. Probably it can be linked to fogparametertable.txt)

    Possible New Features:
    [*]New Lightmaps
    [*]Proper Lightmap calculations across models
[*]3D RSM Models editor inside Browedit probably with animation support (/me hopes)
[*]Multi-User Share Mapping (multiple mappers could work on a same map in real time)

We have to be thankful with @Borf that has been working on this project for a long time. If you have programming skills, you can be part of this project, please  don't hesitate to contact me by PM. Please support the project by giving us feedback and nice or useful ideas that would make browedit 2.0 improve. Also, please avoid to report constantly bugs or glitches, one time is enough. Olrox got a reaction from Nebraskka in Some questions about browedit
To recolor a model, you need your RSM model extracted from your data.grf already and converted in ASCII *(using unbollox).

About the RSM editor in browedit should be like:

1 - Click Open and locate the RSM model you already extracted.
2 - the textures of that model should appear at the right panel. This panel shows also the original texture names/path this RSM model uses. Choose one of the textures you would like to change and the texture window should appear.
3 - locate your custom texture (previously  added in texturecustom.txt in the browedit data) and open it.
4 - You'll see your model recolored with your custom texture, then, just click on "save as" and save it as a new RSM file.
5 - You'll need to add this model as a new model in browedit, by editing the file: data/randommodels.txt

    Edit:

Regarding the global height edit, yes that is a common issue. Its possible to copy gats by using the copy function (hotkey C) however, if you use a big brush the gats don't copy. If I remember well, its possible to open two maps in browedit and use this copy function in two maps.

So one way could be like: open your original map with the good gats as a backup and the global height copied too. Then switch to gat edit mode and by using a small-medium brush size, use the copy hotkey and switch to the other map by using the TAB key. then try to paste. I don't know if that will work though.

    1. Concept

Hi I did some time to show some work I did I'm sure some people were wondering where I was? well, very busy xD but alive and healthy, which counts

The sketch. The idea was to create a recreational area for parties, inspired as a pirate area in the past, but reworked as a recreational area for parties, this map is going to be used as an event of an end-season of Summer of this server. The map has multiple areas like: a place for drinks, a dance area, an open beach area, volcano hot springs, bar, break water area, etc.

    2. Features

    New features on this map:
[*]I tried to focuss at small details. Thanks by a new way of working, I can invest more hours efficiently in a map from now.
[*]Effects were used to give the feeling of a party area.
[*]A huge volcano was created from scratch. Textures were made to simulate ash, and lights to make the crater. This volcano has some hotsprings were players can have fun
[*]Some crow nests are placed near the dance area, to allow Game Masters, to watch the entire fun at a high altitude.

    3. Video *watch in HD 1080p*

Please I suggest you to watch the video. This map comes with animation or effects that you can't see on SS.

Olrox got a reaction from Chemical Crush in [Showcase] Vocaloid Stage
    Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OlroxMaps

    1. Concept

Hi, I have been really busy to show stuff I have made, but here I'm. Just a commision of a very particular map I did, which I name it as "Vocaloid Stage"

The primary idea was to create a small map for event purposes, which concist in a stage. However, the amount of custom material I had to add and features, made possible to recreate the map with a lot of life as usual.
    2. Features

Again new features on this map:
[*]An animated TV on the back area of the stage. The animation of a TV was improved a lot since I did one in a previous map
[*]We have a huge background panel of LED screens that adds a panoramic view to the stage. Before I was planning to make it animated but It was just too much
[*]Effects like a visual shake effect that represents the stage playing with very loud music.
[*]A pack of stage objects as spotlights, speakers that I modeled and texturized myself
[*]Effects like clouds to add more representation of a stage, and sound effects like people cheering at the concert.

[*]3. Video *watch in HD 1080p*
Please I suggest you to watch the video. This map comes with animation that you can't see on screensshots!

     4. Screenshots

Some screenshots. There isn't a particular order or purpose on the screens here, just some overview screenshots and maybe some others that has to do with close ups.

You must use the same amount of letters to allow the sky effect into another map with that hex editon. Please for renaming your map files in case you need to, you must rename it with browedit.

Alternatively, there is a weather plugin for allowing weather effects to custom maps, without replacing the original effects Here
