You shouldn't have to update the .conf file via a patcher - but update the patcher itself. (Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean)

This was pretty much the issue I had. My viewID was set too high compared for the diff.

In older clients yes (older clients use the smallest size as standard), but new clients don't do it anymore. That's unfortunate.

The client should remember that you left it small and save the position IIRC.

Doesn't seem very efficient. If someone wants to bot, they would simply kill a few mobs, pass the "checkpoint" and then continue to bot.

Its written in c#, Decompile it, make a fake one using same protocol, and tadaa, you bypassed hashield. The average player isn't going to do that, though. But still, huge security exploit.

From what I've noticed - Herc has a much better acceptance of change and innovation, where as rAthena is set in their ways. eA is dead.
