    Introduction
    Well this idea came up when evilpunker asked about the possibility of having a patch which loads a second file which overrides the iteminfo file. But there is a better way to do that with lua itself.
     
    How to do it?
    The key idea is that the item information is added using the main function by the client. so in your custom file you just need to modify the main function to accept your items. Here is how it can be done.

    How is it useful?
    Think how item_db2.txt is useful for adding custom items in a server. Its the same strategy here.
     
    You can keep your official items  in a base file (or you can just use the official iteminfo.lub file if you want the korean names)
           and keep your custom items in a different file (make sure the first dofile function calls the base file).
     
    The above code is error free, so feel free to copy and add your items . Hope the topic was not too confusing 
    The lua code can be further expanded for overriding only parts of an official item. But i will leave that update for the future
     
    P.S. The client should be patched to accept your custom file not the base file.

    This source modification adds a new mapflag: bg_consume, and adds an NPC (Telma) 
    that sells consumable items which can only be used on maps with the 'bg_consume' mapflag.
     

    download and apply this diff patch: battlegroud.diff

    create a char named "Battleground"
    First you should check if that name exists:- delete their char, then create a new one
     use a different name use the existing char (WARNING: if they rename the char named "Battleground", it will rename the "Battleground's items" too! If they delete the char named "Battleground", they will become "Unknown's item".)


    When you are ready to create the char named "Battleground", use this SQL query:
     
    SQL INSERT INTO `char` (`name`) VALUES ('Battleground'); make note of the char_id (of the char named "Battleground")
    SQL SELECT char_id FROM `char` WHERE `name`='Battleground'; Write this down somewhere or remember it for the next steps.

    The original idea is from someone else, I'm just not sure who. It started in 2009 when a player showed us screenshots (from another server) of the Telma NPC and asked if we could implement something similar--Battleground's consumables that could only be used in BG. Based on the screenshots, I came up with this. Since then, several people have asked about it on eAthena but I was too lazy to update it so I just linked them to our old SVN/Trac. Finally I updated it, and here it is!

    Attached are the client additions / translations for the soon to be released official 2014 halloween event script.
     
    The lua files and questid2display.txt need to be merged with your own client files. In this archive they only contain the additions. They will not work if you just drop them into your client as it'll get rid of all the other content, as they weren't included.
     
    Server side content will be released into the repo once we get some item bonus figured out for the candies.

    How about transfer them to another repo?
    Most of them are quite useful as example for development, but in most cases not needed in production folder.
    If somebody wants, they could Pull Request this repo with their fixes.
     
    I'm also not sure about need in maintaining basic ones (Healer, Bank etc).
    Current versions being modified on most popular servers anyway, because they are not enough technically advanced, and direction of this improvement being determined by server's policy (which couldn't be unified for everyone).
     
    If beginner would need some NPCs from customs, he could find appropriate topic at Scripts board (matching all his needs), or to develop himself on the codebase of customs-repo.

    One of the main things you'd have to know is that unlimited web hosting is a scam. 90% of hostings that are saying unlimited are lying because that isn't true (just imagine millions of clients buying cheap, unlimited web hostings and uploading all of their files just to have a backup, which would be rather silly). You should rather go for unmetered when looking for these. And trust me, you'd rather prefer to know your limits than having a hard limit (usually under a Fair Use clause in the Terms of Service) and not knowing where it is.
     
    Just think, buying hard drives for your data is expensive and you may not know, but carriers charge data centers based on the amount of data traffic they consume. It's rather common to have unmetered data transfer on shared hostings (web hostings) since your host wants you to be able to serve your web to any legit who requests it (that's why it's common to find some terms of service in hosts that bans directly or indirectly making download sites on shared web hostings).
     
    Now, if you want a paid web hosting, think what hard disk space you need. You won't usually need more than 10 GB unless you're running a massive site or using your space inefficiently. As I said, you usually won't have to mind about transfer, but if your transfer isn't on the unmetered side try to have it around the 100 GB mark to make it on a very safe mark (unless you're running sites with tons of visits).

    We're re-introducing console input ( hercules renewal'd ), and whats this? it's the ability to type commands into login/char/map server console/terminals, that are then interpreted and acted upon. This feature was once available through a long-deprecated plugin, we're re-introducing it as a built in feature and far more efficient than the previous version. Currently, the old commands are being used, we'll be replacing them in the coming days and adding new ones, besides improving the functionality (so that if you use a gm command through console it wont require you to type gm position more than once, among other stuff).
    By the way, typing 'shutdown', 'exit', 'quit' or 'end' will replicate the effect of @mapexit.
    It's a optional feature, can be disabled in src/config/core.h by commenting the following line:

    Flux CP is now officialy available for Hercules!
     
    It is fully working with both pre-Renewal and Renewal Hercules servers. We will continue developing it, so it is always up-to-date and compatible with latest Hercules.
     
    New theme
    Hercules' Flux CP comes with a brand new theme. It's a grey-ish modern and clean HTML5 theme, called Emphaino.
    It has a nice dropdown menu located on top of the screen, and a customizable footer area, where you can put some stuff that should be visible all the time (like links to social media, forums etc.).

    It's a HTML5 theme, so it requires a decent browser, or IE9+ (if you insist on using that).
     
    Theme selection
    Having two themes is great, but until now it was impossible to make use of them both. That's why theme selector has been added to both themes, so your users can pick whichever theme they like more.

    Hey everyone,
     
    This is a GRF tool I started to develop for my own personnal use, but I thought I'd share it since I've upgraded the UI. Its primary goal is to be easy to use while offering a wide variety of options and customizations. The software is quite stable and can handle large operations easily.
     
    How to install
    Download the zip archive provided from the download link at the bottom of this description or directly from there : http://www.mediafire.com/?aflylbhblrzpz0h
    Install the application with GRF Editor Installer.exe; if you are missing a .NET Framework you will be prompted to download it.
    Once you are done, you can start the program from the link on your desktop.

    Key features
    Overall speed is faster (or at least equal) than any GRF tool.
    Common operations : add, delete, merge, extract, preview, save.
    Undo and redo for any operation.
    It can open any GRF file.
    Clean and very interactive interface.
    Saving formats supported : 0x200, 0x103 and 0x102 (through the Settings page).
    Instant filter and search options (example : "map .gat").
    File association and context menus integration for .grf, .gpf and .rgz (through the Settings page).
    Can rebuild separated images into one file easily.
    Lub decompilation (in beta, but it can decompile almost any lub file so far).
    Drag and drop (with the ALT key, can be modified in the Settings page). This is a big part of the software; most of the items can be moved around within the application itself or from/to Windows Explorer.

    Tools
    Sprite editor : a simple sprite editor with powerful features. Semi-transparent images can be added, you can easily change the order or replace images, etc. This tool can convert images in the wrong type by showing you multiple solutions (merging a new palette, dithering the image by using current palette, using the closest color, and a few more).
    Grf validation : allows you to validate a GRF with multiple settings. It can detect corrupted GRF entries, invalid sprites, empty files, non-GRF files, duplicate files and a lot more.
    Flat maps maker : generates flat maps from .gat and .rsw files. Useful to generate WoE maps or to fasten up the loading time.
    Patch maker : generates a GRF patch based on two different GRFs.
    Hash viewer : shows the hash code (both CRC32 and MD5) for files.
    Image converter : converts an image to any format requested (BMP, PNG, JPG, TGA).
    GrfCL : used to create batch files (.bat) which can automate tasks on GRF files. See the content in GrfCL.rar in the download for more information. This tool can be customized from the sources as well.
    Palette recolorer : creates new sprites by changing their colors (this tool is now deprecated).
    Client database editor : allows modifications of the database client files (txt and lua) with easy and simple tools. Work in progress.

    Grf encryption
     

    The encryption feature has been enabled again. It's similar to what it used to be and it has been tested on client versions ranging from 2012-08-01 to 2014-02-05. Some error messages will be displayed if necessary. If you have an issue, copy the error message (with the code, if there's one) and send me the client executable with the cps.dll file generated by GRF Editor. There shouldn't be compatibility issues anymore though!  
    Technical stuff
    Requires .Net Framework 3.5 (SP1) Client Profile to run (3.5 or more will work as well).
    Automatically converts file name encoding to their proper values (you can change the encoding).
    Data virtualization is used as much as possible to preview files, meaning the files aren't completely loaded.
    Right-clicking an item will bring up the available options with that file.
    Preview file formats : txt, log, xml, lua, lub, bmp, png, tga, jpp, db, ebm, pal, gnd, rsw, gat, rsm, str, spr, act, imf, fna and wav.
    Services are "crash ready", meaning that you will be warned about a failed operation and no work will be lost (the application won't close and crash). It tries to continue operating even if it meets unsual conditions.
    Operations can be cancelled by clicking on the button near the progress bar.
    The warning level can be changed to avoid messages like "Please select a folder first."
    When prompted with an error, use Ctrl-C to copy the current dialog's content.

    -5: the player already join the battleground ID that you specify
     
    if the player has joined battleground ID 3, and you use setbgid 5;
    this will force the player to leave battleground ID 3 and join battleground ID 5 without any notification
    ( player who same group will receive a message mention that "player xxx leaving battlefield" )
    only when the player joined bg ID 9, and use setbgid 9; then only the command return -5

    Hi there !
     
    If you remember, in the past I released a buggy web grf viewer.
    It was slow, didn't work with big GRF because of memory issue, can't decode DES encryption, now time to present its new version.
     
    Basically this web tool allow you to select your own GRFs and display their contents directly in the browser. Nothing to download.
    As its name suggest, it can't write into the GRF, there are currently no API available (for security reason) to have write access to the user computer, so the only point of this tool is to display its content and search on it. There are no way to repack, add or modify files. Just view and extract files.
     
    This tool is built using only javascript, html5 and webgl, it is in my point of view a demonstration of what can be done in the web today with new technologies.
    It can view as thumbnail some sort of files : bmp, gif, jpeg, tga, spr, pal, and some tools are included to render models and maps or listening audio files.
     
    Two possibilities at the start up :
    Select a GRF (click on "select files", or drag drop your grfs in the box).
    Note: once the page quit or reloading you have to re-select the files, the browser do not remember them. Click on the data folder, in this case, it will show resources from my remote client.

     
    This tool is an application from roBrowser, it's using roBrowser's core. So if you ever find a bug, I'll be really happy to fix it !
     
    Note: it's possible the viewer stop rendering a directory content because it encounter a corrupted file in the GRF (wrong gzip encryption, or invalid file offset) or the file is encrypted.
